Helping Women navigate ADHD, Hormonal Transitions,
and Burnout.
I'm Dr Robyn Charlton, a psychiatrist, somatic yin yoga teacher,
mindful self-compassion meditation teacher and
creator of the SOAR Self-Care Battery.
I provide specialist psychiatry and holistic care for
women across hormonal transitions.
We walk this path together,
gently at your own pace, toward
healing that honours your mind, body and spirit.

Psychiatry for ADHD, Hormones & the Nervous System....
For many women, ADHD doesn’t become visible until something changes.
Perimenopause. Pregnancy. Parenting neurodivergent children. Burnout.

What once worked suddenly doesn’t. Focus slips. Emotional regulation becomes harder.
Confidence erodes. You may wonder why everything feels so much harder now.
There is nothing wrong with you.

I specialise in working with women whose ADHD has been unmasked or worsened by hormonal transitions, particularly perimenopause, often alongside burnout and nervous system overload.

My work recognises that:
-
ADHD often presents differently in women.
-
Hormonal change can significantly amplify symptoms.
-
Burnout is often a neurobiological and physiological mismatch—not a personal failure.
-
Sustainable recovery requires more than medication alone.
Care is integrative, trauma-informed, and nervous-system-aware, supporting both
symptom relief and long-term well-being.

Who this work is for:

I’m particularly well-suited to working with women who:
-
suspect or have a diagnosis of ADHD, often identified later in life
-
notice worsening focus, overwhelm, or emotional regulation during perimenopause
-
feel burnt out, foggy, or “not like themselves anymore”
-
are open to medication alongside coaching, therapy, and lifestyle approaches
-
want care that makes sense of the whole picture — not just symptoms.

I also work across other key hormonal transitions, including perinatal mental health and adolescence, using the same ADHD- and nervous-system-informed framework.

Your are not alone if...
-
You’ve coped well for years, then suddenly feel overwhelmed or depleted.
-
Your focus, memory, or emotional regulation worsened around perimenopause.
-
You’ve been treated for anxiety or burnout but something still doesn’t fit.
-
Parenting neurodivergent children has surfaced patterns in yourself.
-
Rest no longer restores you the way it used to
-
You feel capable on the outside but exhausted on the inside.
Many women reach this point not because they are failing —
but because long-standing ADHD has collided with hormonal change, nervous system load, and life demands.

Nothing has gone wrong.
Your system is asking for a different kind of support.

Not more pushing.
Not more fixing.
But a kinder, biology -informed approach.

Let me show you how-with the SOAR Self-Care Battery...

I didn’t create the SOAR Self-Care Battery™ in theory — I created it in the midst of my perfect storm. I had normalised and masked my difficulties for years: pushing through, over-functioning with perfectionism, holding everything together, until perimenopause, undiagnosed Hashimotos, and suspected ADHD symptoms led to burnout.
Mindful Self-Compassion gave me permission to pause. Yin Yoga helped my nervous system down-regulate for the first time in decades. I then returned to the science I had studied but hadn’t fully lived — polyvagal theory, positive neuroplasticity, lifestyle medicine and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches to develop the SOAR Self-Care Battery.

The SOAR Self-Care Battery™ isn’t about adding more to your to-do list.
It’s built around small, evidence-based micro-practices that fit into real life—even on full, tired, or overwhelmed days.

These practices are designed to support an ADHD-sensitive nervous system without requiring perfection, long routines, or constant motivation.
SOAR became a simple, ADHD-informed map grounded in Lifestyle Medicine:
Stop • Observe what is draining your self-care battery • Allow your experience with compassion • Recharge in ways that truly help.

What we observe matters.
For women with ADHD, drains often fall into three overlapping layers:
-
Internal drains — executive overload, emotional regulation fatigue, sleep disruption, hormonal shifts.
-
External drains — work demands, sensory overload, time pressure, caregiving roles
-
In-between drains — relationships, co-regulation strain, rejection sensitive dysphoria, masking, and carrying others’ stress.
The question then becomes: how do we gently recharge an ADHD nervous system in daily life?
That’s where the S.A.V.O.U.R. Lifestyle Medicine pillars come in:
Self-Compassion • Awe, Gratitude & Joy • Vagal Toning • Our Meaning • United in Connection • Rest, Rhythms (including executive functioning and time management support) & Nourishment.

Together, SOAR and S.A.V.O.U.R. offer a practical, compassionate approach to working with an ADHD-sensitive nervous system—especially during hormonal changes—restoring capacity, clarity, and connection over time. SOAR helps us regulate our nervous systems, and SAVOUR helps us to rewire our brains
